Masters Program

ABOUT MASTERS PROGRAMS

The CIS department offers two graduate level degree programs, Masters of Engineering (Computer Systems) and Master of Science (Data Engineering and Information Management). MEngg (Computer Systems) is offered as an evening program with two fields of specializations, namely Computer Architecture & System Design and Computer Networks & System Security. The second program MS (Data Engineering and Information Management) is offered as a weekend program.


All the admitted students of M. Engg (Computer Systems) will be required to study five compulsory courses. A student may elect five more courses from his/her area of specialization to complete 30 credit hours or can opt for courses plus master's thesis. Each course consist of 03 credit hours. For thesis the student can select either Dissertation of 09-credit hours or Independent Study Project (ISP) of 06 credit hours. The minimum time duration for completing this degree program is four semesters with thesis and five semesters with only coursework. 

All the admitted students of MS (Data Engineering and Information Management) will also be required to study five compulsory courses. Similarly, a student may elect five more courses from his/her area of specialization to complete 30 credit hours or can opt for courses plus master's thesis. Each course consist of 03 credit hours. For thesis the student can opt for either Dissertation of 09-credit hours or Independent Study Project (ISP) of 06 credit hours. As this is a weekend program all classes would be held on Saturdays and Sundays. The minimum time duration for completing this degree program is three semesters with coursework and four semesters with thesis.
